Family of killed student seeks justice in Srinagar

Srinagar, February 07 (KMS): In Srinagar, the family of a student, Zahid Farooq, who was recently killed by the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) personnel, has sought justice against the culprits involved in the heinous crime.

Farooq Ahmad Sheikh, father of Zahid and a driver in Jammu and Kashmir Water Works Department, talking to the newsmen in Srinagar, demanded to take stern action against the killers of his son. “The troops shattered my only hope. They have created havoc in my life,” he murmured.

Ghulam Mohammad Sheikh, Zahid's uncle, said that the cold-blooded murder of his nephew had sent chills down the spine in entire area. "The people in the entire area feel insecure. Now we have no guarantee for our children, who often play cricket in the vicinity where my nephew was martyred by the troopers," he said.

Revealing the details, he said that Zahid along with his friend Bilal Ahmad Najar had gone to the playfield, which was not in a good condition due to bad weather. "After offering prayers they left the playground to take a stroll on the Boulevard road where two vehicles of the BSF passed. The BSF troopers hurled abuses on Zahid and his friend Bilal asking them to leave the spot. When Zahid left the spot, a young BSF officer fired at him that led to his death," he maintained
