Bhat praises people

Srinagar, May 09: In Srinagar, the APHC leader and Jammu and Kashmir Salvation Movement Chairman, Zaffar Akbar Bhat has said that it is important to boycott the farcical elections to safeguard the precious sacrifices of martyrs and appealed the people of Baramulla, Kupwara and Bandipore to boycott the polls scheduled on May 13.
In a statement in Srinagar, Zaffar Akbar Bhat said that this has once again strongly proved that the farce elections in Kashmir have no bearing on the nature of dispute adding that APHC have never been against any democratic process but to hold sham elections under the manifold of Indian constitution in Kashmir as apart of India is unacceptable to us.
By boycotting so-called elections people had announced that elections were a futile exercise and people of Kashmir wanted solution of Kashmir dispute in accordance with their wishes and aspirations He maintained that elections are a military exercise and the entire valley was turned into a garrison. People showed their faith, determination and belief for the freedom movement.
Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Forum, chairman, Javed Ahmed Mir has urged India to start a serious tripartite dialogue process for the resolution of Kashmir issue. He also urged liberation leadership to come on a single platform to take the movement to its logical end.   Congratulating the people of Srinagar, Budgam and Ganderbal for boycotting the polls, he said, “People have made boycott call a success. Now it is the duty of the leadership to respect the sentiments of people and forge unity.”    
 Mir, who has been under house arrest for past 10 days, told a news conference at his residence here that People by staying away had proved that they were not interested in elections. “It should serve as an eye opener for Indian leadership,” he added.
He said that India should respect the sentiments of the Kashmiri people and fulfill its promise of granting tight of self determination to Kashmiris. “I appeal international community and the SAARC countries to play their role to reduce tension between India and Pakistan,” Mir said.  
He said that India was propagating that Taliban had entered into the Kashmir Valley to “justify the heavy presence of its troops here.” “It is a sheer propaganda aimed at misleading the international community,” he added.
Mir appealed the US president, Barrack Obama, to take personal interest in resolving the issues of Palestine and Kashmir. 
He said it is moral obligation for the international community to take steps for the resolution of the Kashmir issue. “OIC, EU, UN, America, Britain and others should take immediate steps as Kashmiris have treaded the non violent path of resistance in 2008 which is recognized by the civilized world as well. SAARC countries should also start a process in this regard,” said Mir. Sources-PN
